SPOKANE, Wash. — A 16-year-old convicted felon is back in the Spokane County Juvenile Detention Center after he allegedly assaulted a teenage girl and displayed a stolen gun to a group of people.

Shortly after 9:30 a.m. Friday, officers responded to the area of 100 South Arthur for a report of a person with a weapon. Witnesses said a young man had just pulled a young woman's hair and pushed her around, and flashed a gun at the reporting parties when they tried to intervene.

When officers arrived, they found the 16-year-old suspect and the girl heading toward a bus stop. Officers were able to get the teens' attention and talk with them, but when a bus arrived, the two got onto the bus despite the officers telling them not to. The officers followed and told the driver not to leave, while other officers tried to talk to the teens.

SPD said several other officers got on the bus and moved toward the teens, who had moved to the back of the bus. According to police, both teens ignored all officer's commands and the girl reportedly blocked the officers from getting to the teen boy. Police said the teen boy continually screamed at officers while they were trying to detain him.

During the struggle, SPD said one of the officers used a taser on the teen boy, which allowed them to put one handcuff on him. The teen boy reportedly kept struggling with police and was able to pull a gun from somewhere on his waistband, which he then threw under a seat on the bus, according to police.

Eventually, the teen was arrested. He is currently in the Spokane County Juvenile Detention Center on two counts of first-degree assault, one count of possessing a firearm as a felon, one count of possession of a stolen firearm, one county of fourth-degree assault, obstructing a law enforcement officer and resisting arrest.
