Suspect targets downtown Spokane wine business four times in one year

Back in June a suspect identified by Spokane Police as Donald Stamper, was accused of breaking into a downtown wine bar three different times in three weeks. Spokane Police said he pried open the back door of the wine bar from a communal hallway in the building, stole money, and enjoyed a piece of cake before leaving.

SPOKANE, Wash. — Back in June a suspect identified by Spokane Police as Donald Stamper, was accused of breaking into a downtown wine bar three different times in three weeks.

Today, he is back in jail for breaking into the same wine bar a fourth time.

Donald Stamper made a first appearance appearance in court Wednesday for a second degree burglary charge after police reports said he broke into Left Bank Wine Bar last weekend.

Spokane Police said he pried open the back door of the wine bar from a communal hallway in the building, stole money, and enjoyed a piece of cake before leaving.

Owner Isaac Gordon said he is shocked by Stamper's repeated offenses. He thought he had seen the last of Stamper when he was arrested in June.

Stamper's bond for the most recent burglary charge was set at $150,000.

According to Spokane Police, it is unusual for the same suspect to break into the same business multiple times.

Stamper's motive is still unclear.

Officials said it is also unclear why Stamper keeps getting out of jail to commit the same crimes.
