SPOKANE, Wash. — The suspect in Tuesday's shooting on West Francis Ave. has been identified as 44-year-old Torin Harrington, according to the Spokane Police Department (SPD).
Officers said the shooting took place on West Francis Avenue on Tuesday afternoon. One person was left injured. Police said Harrington had retreated into a home with one woman and several children inside.
After arriving, officers entered the home and arrested Harrington to protect the woman and children, who had sheltered themselves. The victim in the shooting was found to have non life-threatening injuries and was taken to the hospital for treatment.
Police determined the shooting began on New Year's Eve as a domestic violence incident. Officers said Harrington had allegedly accosted a woman he knew before striking her with a gun and forcing her into his car to drive around the city. The next day, Harrington returned to the home and shot a man who was a friend of the woman.
Harrington was arrested for four counts of second-degree assault, one count of first-degree assault and first-degree kidnapping. He has been booked in the Spokane County Jail.
