Suspect arrested after shooting near Manito Park

Spokane police officials said a suspect has been arrested in connection to a shooting near Manito Park on Saturday.

SPOKANE, Wash. – Spokane Police said a woman was shot near Manito Park Saturday afternoon.

Spokane police officials said a suspect has been arrested.

Officials said the suspect is 18-year-old Jensen Stauffer. He is charged with 3rd degree felony assault.

Officers responded to a shots fired called on South Manito Place around 11:30 a.m. They said one woman was found with a gunshot wound and was taken to the hospital. Officials said the woman suffered non-life threatening injuries. Witnesses said she was shot in the forearm.

Authorities said everyone involved knew each other.

South Grand Boulevard was shut down between Manito Place and East 18th Avenue and police were telling people to avoid the area. It has since been reopened. The park was also closed briefly.

Witnesses said they saw three officers walking through the park with their guns drawn.
