MEAD, Wash. — Cynthia Khaleel, a Spokane woman accused of murdering her ex-boyfriend, Justin Daniel, will remain behind bars. Khaleel, who is currently being held without bond in Spokane County Jail, appeared in court Thursday morning to request bond and the removal of a no-contact order with her daughter.

Khaleel faces multiple charges, including first-degree murder, in connection with the April killing of Justin Daniel at his home in Mead. The two shared a daughter and were involved in a custody battle at the time of Daniel's death.

Khaleel's attorney argued for her release on bond, citing her lack of prior criminal convictions. However, Daniel's family opposed the request. They described Khaleel as dangerous and claimed that her daughter did not want to see her.

Justin's mother, Terry Smith, and his brother, Josh Daniel, spoke in court, expressing their concerns and fears regarding Khaleel's release. Terry Smith shared, "Please hear me on this: Not one day of 87 days not one, has she asked for her mommy." Josh Daniel added, "She is a danger to her children, she's a danger to this family, she's a danger to the community and she's a danger to anyone who stands in between her and AD."

The judge ultimately denied Khaleel's requests for bond and the removal of the no-contact order. Her trial is scheduled to begin at the end of next month.
