Spokane Police responding to possible life-threatening shooting

SPOKANE, Wash. -- The Spokane Police Department responded to a shooting at the intersection of E. Vanetta and Pittsburg.

Officials reported that a dozen teens were playing with a gun when their friend was shot in the chest. Police said the teens had taken the magazine out of the gun but there was still a bullet in the chamber.

Authorities said the shooting victim had been taken to the hospital and is in critical but stable condition.

SPD said the 14-year-old teen who pulled the trigger was being questioned.

Neighbors said a man and several teens live in the home and there is often large groups of kids going in and out of the house. They also said police have been to the house before for noise complaints.

No one was arrested and the incident has been labeled as accidental.
