Spokane Police Department responds to two drive-by shootings

Police say the two shootings happened within 30 minutes of each other.
SPD has 150 cars and they say 58 shouldn't be on the road because they are 5 years or older & have 100,000+ miles. The department recently ordered 72 more cars.

SPOKANE, Wash. — The Spokane Police Department said they responded to two shootings that happened within 30 minutes of each other Tuesday night.

According to SPD, officers responded to several reports of gunshots near Lincoln Street and Cleveland Avenue, with callers reporting to police that shots were fired from a black vehicle that fled. SPD could not find any victims.

SPD then said 30 minutes later, they were dispatched to the area on another report of shots from a black vehicle that fled the scene.

SPD said officers found a bullet hole in a shed and several other bullet holes in a home on North Lincoln near Cleveland Avenue, finding shell casings.

Witnesses told officers that they saw a man running down the street from Lincoln and Cleveland who got into a white vehicle.

SPD said the investigation suggests two "parties" may have been shooting at each other before leaving separately in a white vehicle and the black vehicle.

Later on in the investigation, officers located the black vehicle at a home on East Lacrosse Avenue off North Division Street. SPD said a man exited the car and entered another car parked next to it. Officers detained the man and others, finding a firearm inside the car.

SPD said 25-year-old Travis B. Williams was arrested and booked into the Spokane County Jail on one count of second-degree unlawful possession of a firearm.

SPD said the investigation is ongoing, and additional charges may be pending.

Just before 1 a.m. Wednesday morning, SPD said officers responded to a motel on South Rustle Street off West Sunset Boulevard for reports of a gunshot from one of the rooms. When officers arrived, they found the room empty and found a bullet hole on the ceiling, along with a shell casing.

SPD said they later learned that several people fled from the room following the gunshot.

SPD said it does not appear that anyone was shot and no suspects have been identified.

SPD said anyone with information on either shooting is asked to call Crime Check at  509-456-2233.
