SPOKANE, Wash. — A burglary suspect was arrested in northwest Spokane Thursday afternoon.

According to the Spokane Police Department (SPD), police responded to a home on West Spofford Avenue and North Howard Street, where they were told that a woman was seen trying to enter a home.

SPD said the caller reported that the woman was seen throwing a brick at a window and breaking into the home. SPD said the caller also told 911 the woman had broken into the home before.

When officers arrived to the home, they saw a broken window and also what appeared to be several doors that were barricaded shut.

SPD said it later identified the woman, also learning that the woman had a court order prohibiting her from being at the home.

Officers later contacted the woman, and SWAT, K9 and Hostage Negotiators were called to the scene, along with the SPD Air Support Unit.

Officers saw the woman moving inside the home, but SPD said she would not come outside.

SPD said officers eventually used chemical irritants to get the woman out of the home, where she eventually surrendered and was taken into custody.

SPD later learned that the woman had a firearm at one point while inside the home.

SPD said 31-year-old Kyza R. Richardson was arrested for first-degree burglary, first-degree unlawful possession of a firearm, violation of a court order and third-degree malicious mischief- domestic violence.

SPD said Richardson had prior felony convictions for criminal mischief involving a weapon and second-degree taking a motor vehicle without permission.
