SPOKANE, Wash. — A Spokane bank manager was sentenced to two years in prison after stealing over $345,000 from the bank.
According to the United States Attorney's Office Eastern District of Washington, along with court documents and information at the sentencing hearing, 28-year-old Jessica Ann Marshall stole at least $345,664 from the Bank of Idaho's downtown Spokane branch.
The U.S. Attorney's Office said Marshall used her position to steal and embezzle the money from the bank vault, ATM and her cash drawer. It also said Marshall falsified documents to reconcile the money, directing employees to sign falsified count sheets to help hide what she was doing.
The U.S. Attorney's Office also said Marshall used her position to make fraudulent deposit transactions into her spouse's account.
Marshall tried to hide what she was doing by using a co-worker's e-mail to send an e-mail with false information, while also accessing another co-workers computer to delete an email from the Bank of Idaho asking about the deposits.
Marshall pleaded guilty to one count of theft and embezzlement by a bank employee.
Marshall was sentenced to 24 months in prison, followed by five years of supervised release. Marshall was also sentenced to restitution of $345,664.66 to be paid to the Bank of Idaho.
