The Spokane County Medical Examiner identified the victim as 50-year-old Erick Cid.

SPOKANE, Wash. — A gunman is dead, and one person is injured after an overnight shooting in the 1100 block of E. Wellesley in Spokane.

The man shot and killed by police was identified as 50-year-old Erick Cid. The Spokane County Medical Examiner ruled his death a homicide.

Spokane Police received a call from a woman saying a man was threatening her with a gun just after midnight on Monday.

According to police, dispatch heard gunshots over the phone, and the woman told them she had been shot. The woman’s son was in the home, and he also called 911. The son told police his mom had been shot and he was in the house and could not leave.

Shortly after, the gunman, later identified as Cid, and woman who had been shot went back inside the home. Officers went into the home to get the woman, at which point Cid allegedly began shooting at officers. Officers shot back, hitting and killing him.

Police got the woman out of the home. They say she had several gunshots in her arm and neck. Officers say the woman was talking and alert when being taken to the hospital. Her condition is unknown since then.

At this time Spokane Police believe three officers fired their weapons. Those officers will be placed on administrative leave. Officers were equipped with body worn cameras at the time of the incident.
