SPOKANE VALLEY, Wash. — A Spokane County Sheriff's Office Deputy who shot a man in Spokane Valley last year won't be criminally charged.

The Spokane County Prosecutor said deputies responded to a home at 6815 E. 10th Ave. the night of November 14, 2023. The prosecutor's office said a woman was at the home with her on-and-off boyfriend, and the two had a history of domestic violence, along with a no-contact order against the boyfriend, Dallas Robinson. The prosecutor's office also said Robinson had an arrest warrant for violating the no-contact order.

The prosecutor's office said the woman called her father to report that Robinson was at the house. The woman's father told 9-1-1 dispatchers that Robinson broke a door at the home and wouldn't leave the woman alone.

According to the prosecutor's office, Robinson lived a few blocks away from the woman, and probable cause was developed to arrest Robinson for first-degree burglary.

The prosecutor's office said the woman walked into her father's home to let him know that Robinson left her home and didn't know where he was.

Robinson later returned to the woman's home, with the woman telling her father that Robinson was armed with a gun, also grabbing a razor and pocket knife.

The prosecutor's office said Robinson called 9-1-1 pretending to be the woman, telling dispatchers "she" was being held at gunpoint by her boyfriend and "please send somebody." The prosecutor's office said Robinson told the woman to call 9-1-1 and he would tell her what to say to dispatchers.

Multiple deputies arrived at the scene, including Deputy Anthony Gosline. When Gosline and other deputies arrived, deputies saw Robinson and the woman in the living room, watching Robinson put hands on the woman and yell at her.

The prosecutor's office said Robinson was seen raising a gun and pointing it at deputies as Gosline opened the door. Gosline fired his gun three times, hitting Robinson.

Robinson was taken to the hospital. The woman was evacuated from the home unarmed.
