Investigation underway after Lewiston man injured in police shooting incident

ISP said the man was taken to a local hospital for what injuries that are believed to be non-life-threatening. No other injuries were reported.

LEWISTON, Idaho — A non-fatal police shooting in Lewiston is now under investigation by the District Two Officer-Involved Critical Incident Task Force (CITF).

According to Idaho State Police (ISP), a Lewiston police officer tried to pull a man over for a reported traffic violation just before 2 a.m. Thursday. The car didn't stop and kept driving towards Powers Avenue. When the driver got to a roundabout, he allegedly fired a gun at the officer before continuing to drive east.

ISP said additional officers arrived to assist with the incident, which resulted in a police shooting with Lewiston Police officers and Nez Perce County deputies.

The car stopped and the driver was arrested. ISP said the man was taken to a local hospital for what injuries that are believed to be non-life-threatening. No other injuries were reported.

ISP told KREM 2 they are not releasing anymore information about the incident at this time. CTIF is investigating the incident.
