SPOKANE, Wash. — The Spokane Police Department is looking for a drive-by shooting suspect following multiple incidents Thursday.
According to the Spokane Police Department, officers responded to reports of a shooting near North Monroe Street and West Mansfield Avenue Thursday afternoon. According to SPD, officers found a man outside a truck in the parking lot of a gas station who was shot. SPD said the person who was shot was taken to the hospital with serious injuries.
Officers then interviewed witnesses in the area, extending the investigation to West Mansfield Avenue and North Monroe Street, closing streets in that area for the crime scene. SPD said officers were able to get a suspect vehicle description and a possible suspect identification.
Soonafter, SPD said they responded to South Freya Street and West 15th Avenue in response to information related to the shooting near Monroe and Mansfield. Later in the day, police, along with SWAT, hostage negotiators and drones responded to a location at North Washington Street and West Shannon Avenue, as SPD said they learned the suspect may be in the area.
SPD detained multiple people over several hours, but the primary suspect was not found.
SPD said this is an ongoing investigation. SPD also said more information will be released as warranted.
