SPOKANE, Wash. — A Spokane-based drug dealer has been sentenced to 11 years in prison for her involvement in a large-scale drug trafficking conspiracy and a violent shooting.

According to the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Eastern District of Washington, 36-year-old Amy Riggs pled guilty to conspiracy conspiracy to distribute more than 550 grams of methamphetamine and more than 400 grams of fentanyl. Riggs was reportedly the key facilitator the operation, and one of its biggest clients.

Evidence from investigators showed Riggs was obtaining and distributing $125,000 worth of heroin, methamphetamine and fentanyl pills per month. She would reportedly receive between one-half to one kilogram of heroin, up to 10,000 fentanyl pills and one to two pounds of methamphetamine.

In addition, investigators uncovered that Riggs would act as an enforcer to earn favor with the operation's leader, who resides in Mexico. This role came to a head when helped spearhead a chase involving a client, Brady Baughman, who tried to stole drugs from a courier after trying to pay for them with fake money. The situation escalated into a shooting on the intersection of Nettleton and Rowan between Baughman and members of the operation Riggs contacted to chase him.

Both Baughman and the courier were arrested following the shooting. Riggs's Range Rover was found on surveillance cameras within the same area around the same time as the shooting.

“Ms. Riggs engaged in trafficking significant amounts of illegal narcotics in our community. She also had a reputation as someone who would use violence to accomplish the bidding of drug trafficking organizations,” U.S. Attorney Vanessa Waldref said.  “My office is committed to stopping the flow of deadly narcotics into our neighborhoods. We will continue to work tirelessly with our law enforcement partners to investigate and prosecute dangerous individuals involved with drug trafficking to make our communities safer and stronger.”
