SPOKANE, Wash. — New court documents are giving more insight into what led to a deadly drive-by shooting on Wandermere Road.
Jonathan Andersen, 31, is charged with first-degree murder in connection to the shooting that killed 38-year-old Misty Hirsch on July 7 in Spokane.
Andersen allegedly killed Hirsch in a drive-by shooting after she stole and then returned a purse, according to a female passenger in Andersen's SUV.
New court documents state that purse belonged to Andersen's fiancee. The fiancee told police that Hirsch took her purse when she was passed out from drug use.
The new details are from a search warrant for Andersen's DNA evidence, filed in court on Wednesday.
The female passenger in Andersen's vehicle, who was not his fiancee, previously told police that Hirsch returned the purse to Andersen near Lowe's Hardware on North Division Street and apologized for taking it. Andersen allegedly followed Hirsch's car and shot into her car, killing her.
According to new court documents, Andersen’s fiancée told detectives she hung out with Hirsch days before her death. She said when she passed out from drug use, Hirsch took her purse. Documents said Andersen was aware that Hirsch had taken her purse.
Andersen was arrested on July 8 near the intersection of West Rowan Avenue and North Monroe Street after a short pursuit, according to the Spokane County Sheriff's Office.
Police searched the vehicle Andersen was in at the time of the arrest and found a Beretta 9mm semi-automatic pistol and what appeared to be heroin.
Andersen has been charged with first degree murder, attempted murder and attempting to elude police. A judge set his bond at $1 million.
