SPOKANE, Wash. — Spokane Valley Investigative Unit (SVIU) detectives are searching for a suspect involved in a fraud case where a local woman lost over $8,000 while trying to buy Gonzaga University men’s basketball tickets.
In January 2024, a Spokane Valley resident attempted to purchase tickets from a man claiming to be Thomas Jefferson, later identified as Dennis M. Andreasen, 34. Andreasen allegedly promised tickets for multiple games and additional perks, increasing the price during several meetings. Despite receiving payment, Andreasen failed to provide the tickets, offering various excuses to delay delivery.
On February 7, 2024, the victim met Andreasen at WinCo Foods on East Sprague Avenue. A family friend, suspecting a scam, followed her to the location and confronted Andreasen, who reportedly attempted to flee before deputies arrived. When questioned, Andreasen admitted he owed the victim $8,000, claiming he was selling the tickets on behalf of a friend who had not yet provided them. Deputies were unable to establish probable cause for an arrest at that time, and Andreasen was released.
The case was later referred to SVIU detectives, who conducted a months-long investigation. Detectives uncovered evidence suggesting Andreasen used a false name, a fabricated social media profile, misleading banking information, a rental car, and different contact numbers to maintain anonymity. Detectives also believe Andreasen’s behavior, including staying at multiple Airbnb locations, was intended to conceal his identity.
In July 2024, Andreasen was arrested in Kootenai County for unrelated charges. When SVIU detectives questioned him, Andreasen denied knowledge of the ticket sale and requested a lawyer.
After obtaining several search warrants, detectives developed sufficient evidence to charge Andreasen with felony first-degree theft. His whereabouts remain unknown, and SVIU detectives continue to search for him.
Anyone with information on Andreasen’s location is asked to contact Crime Check at 509-456-2233 and reference case number 10017900.
