Moses Lake Police arrest man suspected of shooting mother and step father

Officers arrested 28-year-old Daniel Arceo Martinez Monday afternoon.

MOSES LAKE, Wash. — A man suspected of shooting his mother and stepfather has been arrested.

According to the Moses Lake Police Department, officers arrested 28-year-old Daniel Arceo Martinez Monday afternoon.

Moses Lake Police said the department received information that Martinez, who police say went by the name "Butcher," might have been in Moses Lake. Police then set up surveillance near the homeless encampments around the movie theater, where they eventually took Martinez into custody.

The police department said the Franklin County Sheriff's Office had been looking for Martinez in connection to the shooting. The sheriff's office said deputies were dispatched to a reported assault with weapons Sunday evening at 9090 Sagehill Road in Othello, where two people had reportedly been shot.

The sheriff's office said both the mother and stepfather were taken to the hospital, with one of them being in critical condition.

The sheriff's office said Martinez will be booked into the Franklin County Jail on his Assault 1 charge. Martinez's bond has been set at $1 million.
