SPOKANE, Wash. -- Spokane Police detectives are working to determine if a registered sex offender they arrested overnight for committing a burglary in the buff committed a similar crime on the South Hill over the weekend.
Police arrested 22-year-old Trevor Franklin in stairwell inside a building in Browne's Addition.
People who live in the apartment in the 2100 block of W. Riverside told officers they found Franklin standing naked outside their apartment. The people went into their apartment to find it ransacked. They also reportedly found Franklin's clothing in the apartment.
The tenants returned Franklin's clothing to him, and he was dressed when officers spotted him in the stairwell. Police said Franklin had property from the victims' apartment on him when they arrested him.
Franklin is booked into the Spokane County Jail for Residential Burglary. He is also a registered sex offender.
Officers continued to investigate recent burglary and attempted burglaries that occurred near the 3000 block of S. Manito Sunday morning.
Spokane Police received several reports that a suspicious man was approaching more than a dozen homes. One set of homeowners said they caught that suspect with his pants down.
Detectives are working to determine if Franklin is connected to any of the other reported incidents.
Franklin was also part of a sex trafficking case in 2012.
Last May, a woman went to police saying she was being held against her will in a Spokane Valley house and forced into prostitution.
Detectives discovered she was carrying on relationships outside that house, including one with then-boyfriend Trevor Franklin. Police even contacted them about a domestic violence incident.
A homeowner in North Spokane also told KREM 2 News the woman and Franklin lived in her home during the time the woman said she was being held.
The Spokane County Sheriff's Office said the sex-trafficking case went inactive because the woman stopped cooperating.
