Suspect shot by Spokane County deputy during domestic violence call in Spokane Valley

According to deputies, the suspect was trying to break into a home on E. 10th Ave.

SPOKANE VALLEY, Wash. — Update: The Spokane County Sheriff's Office has identified Anthony Gosline as the deputy who shot the suspect in Tuesday night's domestic violence call.

Original: Spokane County deputies are investigating a shooting that occurred on E. 10th Ave. in Spokane Valley.

Deputies said they received a domestic violence call Tuesday afternoon before arriving to find a suspect trying to break into a home. Shortly after they arrived, they reported shots were fired and the suspect was struck. Police say immediate medical aid was provided and the suspect was transported to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Deputies said the suspect was still conscious and talking as he was being loaded into the ambulance. Law enforcement says they were informed the male suspect had a valid domestic violence warrant for his arrest.  Police also noted what appeared to be a firearm near the location where the suspect was shot and fell to the ground.

At this time, deputies say they don't know if the suspect was armed or fired any shots. SIRR is handling the investigation with Washington State Patrol (WSP) as the lead.
