Arkansas inmate indicted by Coeur d'Alene federal grand jury for sexual exploitation of a child

Court records indicate 39-year-old Hamza Luay Nijmeh was convicted of distribution of child pornography and receipt of child pornography in May 2017.

COEUR D'ALENE, Idaho — An Arkansas man was indicted by a federal grand jury in Coeur d'Alene for sexual exploitation of a child.

According to the United States Attorney's Office District of Idaho, court records indicate 39-year-old Hamza Luay Nijmeh was convicted of distribution of child pornography and receipt of child pornography in May 2017.

According to the indictment, it claims that between August and October of 2023, Nijmeh used multiple cell phones to sexually exploit a child in the District of Idaho while in jail.

The United States Attorney's Office District of Idaho said if Nijmeh is convicted, he will face a minimum of 25 years in federal prison and a maximum of 50 years in federal prison for sexual exploitation of a child. The attorney's office also said Nijmeh faces an extra 10 years of consecutive imprisonment for commission of a felony offense involving a minor when required to register as a sex offender.

The attorney's office said a federal district court judge will determine any sentence after considering the U.S. sentencing guidelines and other factors.
