SPOKANE, Wash. — A 13-year-old boy was arrested in connection to an April shooting that left a 16-year-old severely injured.
According to the Spokane Police Department (SPD), the 13-year-old suspect was arrested and booked into the Spokane County Juvenile Detention Center on Tuesday. He is charged with third-degree assault, reckless endangerment and second-degree unlawful possession of a firearm.
The shooting took place near Center Court Apartments on North Nevada Street on April 24. Police arrived on scene and found a 16-year-old boy who was shot. Police learned a group of juveniles were hanging out at the apartments when someone shot the 16-year-old. He was taken to a nearby hospital with severe injuries, according to SPD.
Detectives later determined the suspect was the aforementioned 13-year-old, and later determined he was actually 12 years old at the time the shooting occurred.
The identity of the teen suspect has not been released by police.
