SPOKANE, Wash. — A 13-time convicted felon was arrested six days after eluding the Spokane Police Department (SPD) during an attempted traffic stop the week before.

According to SPD, officers conducted a traffic stop to arrest a man who eluded them during an attempted traffic stop on June 9, where police saw the man driving unlawfully and unsafely in the downtown Spokane area.

SPD said officers tried to pull the man over, but instead, SPD said he was swerving in and out of heavy traffic on Division Street.

SPD said they stopped trying to find the driver of the car, which SPD said was stolen, due to safety reasons. SPD developed probable cause to arrest the man for possession of a stolen vehicle and eluding police, and they were able to determine the man's identity in the investigation.

SPD said they also had a DOC warrant out for a robbery arrest.

SPD said on June 15, officers found 27-year-old Christopher C. Bacon at a north Spokane apartment complex, seeing him getting into the passenger side of a car.

SPD said officers pinned the car and ran the suspect down after Bacon tried to escape.

Police arrested Bacon for possession of a stolen vehicle, attempting to elude a police vehicle and obstructing a law enforcement officer. SPD said Bacon is a 13-time convicted felon with previous convictions that include possession of a stolen vehicle, theft of a stolen vehicle, burglary and money laundering.

Bacon was booked into the Spokane County Jail on June 15, where he had a bail set at $90,000.
