SPOKANE, Wash. — The 22nd Annual Street Music Week began Monday, June 10, and lasts till Friday, June 14, from noon to 1 p.m. each day. The event will take place within downtown Spokane, Coeur d'Alene and the Garland Business District.
Throughout this week, you can expect to see many talented artists performing on the sidewalks of these areas. Singers, dancers, and musicians from different areas will be performing to help raise money for Second Harvest -- an organization to help those who are facing hunger.
If you want to be a performer for this week, you can check in before noon to grab a bucket and a button at one of the following locations:
- Downtown Spokane - Main and Post, a few steps east of Starbucks.
- Garland District - 733 W. Garland, outside The Gathering House.
- Coeur d'Alene - 415 Sherman Ave, in front of Art Spirit Gallery.
You don't need to be a performer to participate in the fun! You can watch various performers during the noon hour, and you can donate to help support the cause.
The Ella Fitzgerald Charitable Foundation will match every donation made by Street Music Week, up to $5,000.
Street Music Week was founded 22 years ago by Doug Clark. In the event's first year, Clark performed on his own on a street corner to raise money for Second Harvest. After that, Street Music Week has gotten many volunteers to help support their neighbors in need.
