Big Red's Barn in Coeur d'Alene offering new attractions this summer

The indoor petting zoo is preparing to provide more animal rides and obtain permits for more exotic animals.

COEUR D'ALENE, Idaho — Big Red's Barn in Coeur D'Alene has been open since December and will be celebrating their first summer in business with new attractions.

In about two weeks, the barn's outdoor area will open. It houses an Indo-Brazilian Steer named Big Red and Dolly the Camel for carrot eating.

The petting zoo is preparing to provide animal rides, including camel and unicorn rides, in July. Updates will be shared on the Big Red's Barn Facebook page and website

They are also working to obtain permits to bring in more exotic animals. Two of the new additions: otters and sloths.

The zoo currently has ferrets, birds, capybaras, wallabies, miniature zebus, baby goats, several exotic reptiles, and a variety of farm animals that customers can hold and pet during visits to the barn. It is indoors, so it will remain open during any weather conditions throughout the year.

Big Red's Barn's hours are Thursdays through Sundays every week from 10:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

Admission is $10 and people can buy additional vegetable cups to feed the animals while there.
