Busy criminals create extra business for local crime scene cleaners

SPOKANE, Wash.--Med-Tech Cleaners sees a spike in business when Spokane sees a rash of crime. They are responsible for cleaning crime scenes.

They often see trashed stolen cars. Sometimes those cars get returned to the owner covered in blood, needles and drugs. That is where Med-Tech Cleaners comes to the rescue.

'You can't just drop it off at a body shop. You have to have someone clean it and that's where we come

into play,' said Brent Riddle with Med-Tech Cleaners.

Riddle and the crew take calls for everything from brutal assault scenes to drug houses.

'An increase in crime obviously increases business. We get busier,' said Riddle.

Riddle explained some of the items they find in cars.

'Dirty clothes, needles, drugs,' said Riddle.

The crew said they are seeing more and more jobs where recovered stolen cars are left in filth.

'Blood on the windshield, seats...carpet,' said Riddle.

One of Med-Tech's recent clients had her brand new SUV stolen. The thieves took it on a joy ride and used it as a spot to get high. Black tar heroin was scattered throughout the car when the owner got it back.
