New industrial park could bring 1,000 jobs to Hillyard

The plan is to have about six buildings in the Hillyard industrial park that serve as manufacturing, distribution and wholesale facilities.

SPOKANE, Wash. — A new industrial park could bring an estimated 1,000 jobs to Spokane's Hillyard neighborhood.

Construction on the Esmeralda Commerce Park across the street from the Esmeralda Golf Course near Wellesley Avenue is set to begin this summer.

The park will be about 22 acres in size and consist of high-quality concrete tilt buildings, wide roads and sidewalks, and LED lighting. The plan is to have about six buildings in the park that serve as manufacturing, distribution and wholesale facilities.

LB Stone properties is behind the construction and a spokesperson said the company is excited to bring new family wage jobs and the best employers to a largely populated area of Spokane. They added that Hillyard could use an economic boost.

The first building and streets should be finished sometime in 2019.
