COEUR D'ALENE, Idaho — The Hagadone Corporation, in a meeting with Coeur d’Alene city officials, recently unveiled a preliminary plan for a new development project along Sherman Avenue, between First and Second streets.
The proposed new addition to The Coeur d’Alene Resort encompasses a multi-faceted structure, including luxury hotel rooms, a restaurant featuring a rooftop lounge, parking and spaces for retail and commercial offices.
“The project envisions a tiered structure ascending from five to 15 stories strategically designed to seamlessly integrate with existing residential views,” said a news release from the Hagadone Corporation. “This development aims to breathe new life into the current locations of the vacant Bonsai restaurant and the aging Johnston building, which will make way for progress as part of the site preparation.”
The suggested site coincides with the original location of the Desert Hotel, constructed in 1905. The hotel served as the social hub of Coeur d’Alene for more than six decades.
