PULLMAN, Wash. — Students and visitors at Washington State University (WSU) will have to seek alternate routes starting April 1.

According to the university, the $11.7 million Project Downtown Pullman will cover five blocks of Main Street between Spring Street and Grand Avenue. That project includes replacement of sub-surface sewer, water and stormwater lines and the construction of new sidewalks, curbs and landscaping.

The project is expected to last until mid-October 2024.

Officials said businesses will remain open during construction, as well as ADA-compliant pedestrian access to business doors for customers. Main Street will be closed to traffic while Paradise Street will be converted to a temporary two-way street.

Public parking spots will remain available and transit service to the downtown district will run on its regular schedule. For truck drivers, Bishop Boulevard will serve as a temporary route for freight deliveries.

Residents can learn more about the project here.
