SPOKANE VALLEY, Wash. — As of Sunday, more than 1,000 jobs will be available thanks to the brand-new Amazon fulfillment center in Spokane Valley.
The new Amazon fulfillment center opened its doors on Sunday to its new employees. The company’s festive “blue carpet” was rolled out as well as a welcome from managers to celebrate the opening of the new 1.3 million square-foot fulfillment center. The new fulfillment center will help enable faster shipping times on customer orders of larger items, according to Amazon.
The facility’s General Manager, Joe Wistos, said Amazon is excited to offer a wide range of roles and opportunities for professional development. Some of the roles include receiving and stowing inventory, shipping customer orders and supporting network logistics.
Employees at facility play an integral role in fulfilling larger items like bulk cleaning supplies, paper goods, pet food and supplies, patio furniture, baby strollers, and outdoor sports equipment like kayaks, skis and fishing gear.
“We are thrilled to welcome Amazon. This is great news for Spokane Valley, our legislative district and all of Spokane County,” Spokane Valley Senator Mike Padden said in a statement. “Like so many other employers and people in recent years, Amazon was drawn here by the friendly business climate and the high quality of life we are privileged to enjoy. It’s great to have more than 1,000 jobs come to our area, and we look forward to a positive and productive relationship.”
Amazon has created more than 80,000 jobs in Washington State. The company will continue to hire new full-time and part-time associates across the Spokane area.
