SPOKANE COUNTY, Wash. — The City of Spokane opened assistance grant applications for small nonprofits that have been impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic and need help paying their expenses.

Grants up to $45,000 will be awarded to nonprofits that qualify and that can show operating expenses from March 2020 to date. Those organizations that qualify will be required to provide information showing how they have been impacted by the pandemic.

Additional funds of up to $25,000 could be awarded to any organization, which can show they were disproportionally impacted and have not received adequate funding.

The funding was provided by the American Rescue Plan Act and is retrospective reimbursement for expenses already paid. Those applying for additional funding will be scored and ranked for the award.

Nonprofits that want to apply have until Friday, May 19 at 5 p.m. Awards will be given in the order of applications received or until funding lasts. Award notices are scheduled for Friday, June 2 for unscored applications and Monday, June 19 for scored applications.

This Notice of Funding Availability (NOFA) is the second of two rounds of recovery funding. In this round of funding, more than $2.6 million is available and $400,000 of these funds are set aside for scored awards.

To be eligible, the applicant must apply as a nonprofit organization, have an average operational budget below $1.5 million in 2018-2021 and its principal place of business must be inside the City limits.

Nonprofits can find a full list of eligibility requirements outlined in the NOFA and application materials. For more information on how to apply, visit the Spokane ARPA website.
