'Twin Peaks' inspired brewery opens in Coeur d'Alene

The first beer made in-house will be a Kölsch called, fittingly, Agent Gordon Cole-sch.

COEUR D'ALENE, Idaho — The brewery that recently opened up in Coeur d'Alene is taking inspiration from an iconic, early 90's TV show.

Owners of Black Lodge Brewing named beers after and decorated their space to aesthetically mimic the mystery program, Twin Peaks.

Owner Ginger Cantamessa hopes the brewery will be both wonderful and strange.

"I've been always a huge Twin Peaks' fan since I was young. I was always into  David Lynch. I think the first movie I ever saw was Blue Velvet and I became obsessed,' Cantamessa said.

The first beer made in-house will be a Kölsch called, fittingly, Agent Gordon Cole-sch.

Cantamessa said she began brewing beer at home 20 years ago.

"I made a lot of really terrible beers, but as I got older and matured some, I actually made beer that tasted great," Cantamessa said. "I fell in love with the science of it once I understood what was going on."

Cantamessa said this brewery is where she's the happiest. It means a lot to her because her and her husband built and decorated every single piece of the building together.

"We've met so many awesome people," Cantamessa said. "I've been in tears in different times throughout this because people are so excited we're here."
