SPOKANE, Wash. — The Main Market Co-Op in downtown Spokane could close in 2024.
A Facebook post from the market said the business is struggling to stay open. Main Market Co-Op will stop prices on over 200 items with new "Drop it Low" tags to help support the food co-op and keep the staff employed.
The market's board members claim this drop in prices can help shoppers save about 40% in everyday groceries.
"The solution to keeping Spokane’s only locally owned food co-op open and keep our great staff employed, is simple – we all need to spend more money at Main Market," Main Market Co-Op board members said in the Facebook post.
The market's board members encouraged supporting local businesses to help keep the market open. The food co-op first opened 13 years ago and could close in 2024 without increased sales.
