COEUR D'ALENE, Idaho — 37 miles of US Highway 95 near Plummer, Idaho will close for construction starting July 12.
According to the Idaho Transportation Department (ITD), it will take a month to complete the project and crews will work on four miles of road at a time.
On two-lane portions of the highway, only one lane will be open throughout the day for drivers. On four-lane parts, one lane will be open in either direction. Although lanes will be closed, the highway remains open.
Road crews on construction sites will guide drivers through lane closures and slower speeds, both day and night.
ITD will begin construction from Worley, through the town of Plummer, then through Tensed.
ITD will work to seal coat the highway. Construction workers will add a layer of oil and rock chips to the highway to add traction to the road. Chips placed during the seal coat process could cause windshield damage.
ITD is warning drivers to slow down and pay attention to slower speeds and no passing zones during construction.
