SPOKANE, Wash. — The 2024 construction season continues, and drivers in the City of Spokane are asked to plan ahead to avoid issues with their commute.
Be sure to slow down for everyone's safety, as well as visit businesses that will be impacted by construction.
Here are some of the construction projects you should be aware of:
Washington/Stevens Corridor will be closed between North River Drive and Spokane Falls Blvd in both directions.
Starting Monday, August 5, the construction will last approximately four weeks.
What to expect:
- Southbound detour will remain in place at North River Drive and Washington Street
- Northbound detour will be in place at Spokane Falls Boulevard and Washington Street
- North River Dr. will remain open between Division Street and Washington Street to access professional, hospitality, and healthcare businesses and access to Riverfront Park will be available.
Alternative routes:
- Division Street/Ruby Street
- Monroe Street/Lincoln Street
- Maple Street/Ash Street
East Lincoln Road between North Division Street and North Nevada Street
Crews are continuing work on a grind and overlay project on Lincoln Road between Standard Street and Nevada Street in northeast Spokane, starting Monday, August 5.
What to expect:
- Lane reductions in both directions Lincoln Road between Standard Street and Nevada Street.
- Reduced speeds and congestion. Please slow down for everyone's safety.
Thor-Freya Corridor
Crews will continue to work on the Thor/Freya intersections at 2nd Avenue and 3rd Avenue Look for new traffic revisions on Wednesday, August 7 on northbound Freya Street. at 3rd Avenue.
What to expect:
- Southbound Freya Street will be reduced to one lane at 3rd Avenue.
- 3rd Ave. between Thor Street and Freya Street will remain closed.
- Eastbound I-90 Exit 283B Thor/Freya off-ramp remains closed.
North Ash Street between Dean Avenue and Broadway Avenue
Starting Monday, August 5, Ash Street in this short area will be reconfigured to a two-way street to allow access to the Maple Street Bridge on-ramp from Broadway Avenue. There will be one southbound lane on Ash Street to access Broadway Avenue.
What to expect:
- Full closure of north Ash Street between Dean Avenue and Broadway Avenue.
- Southbound drivers will be detoured at Boone Avenue.
- Access to the Maple Street Bridge southbound on-ramp will be accessible and remain open.
- Northbound Maple Street will not be impacted.
Alternative Route:
- Southbound drivers are encouraged to use Monroe Street if traveling south past Boone Avenue.
Hatch Road Bridge Inspections
On Tuesday, August 6 the Street Department will be inspecting the Hatch Road Bridge at Highway 195. There will be alternating lane closures and flaggers on-site from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
