Construction to begin on Highway 195 south of Spokane

Drivers should expect delays between Spangle and Spokane due to nighttime paving starting Aug. 12.

SPANGLE, Wash. — Drivers who use northbound Highway 195 should expect delays that will last a few weeks.

The Washington State Department of Transportation said contractor crews will repave the roadway between milepost 81 and milepost 94, from Cornwall Road to Cheney-Spokane Road.

The project will start on Monday, August 12, at 7 p.m.

The crews will survey the area and do guardrail work, curbing, and other preliminary work before they start paving during the week of August 19. The crews will begin working at Cornwall Road in Spangle and work north.

The construction work will take place Monday through Friday between 7 p.m. and 6 a.m., and travelers can expect some delays with single-lane closures on northbound Highway 195.

There will be no lane closures north of Hatch Road until after Tuesday, September 10. This is due to a City of Spokane project that will be impacting the intersection of Highway 195 and Meadow Lane.

Approaches and median crossovers at Hatch, Excelsior and Paradise Roads will require daytime work. It will not be closed between 7 a.m. and 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. and 6 p.m.

There will be a detour sign when the Cheney-Spokane interchange exit ramp from US 195 is closed.
