SPOKANE, Wash. — Donut Parade announced early Tuesday morning that its shop in the Logan Neighborhood will be closed temporarily after its building was hit by a vehicle.
Spokane police said a vehicle left the road at Hamilton Street and Illinois Avenue, drove over a street sign and crashed into the building just after midnight on Tuesday.
The driver of the car did not survive the crash, police said. Preliminary information indicate that no other person or vehicle was involved, and a medical issue may have played a role in the crash.
Police said the investigation is ongoing.
Donut Parade said on Facebook that any updates will be posted to social media.
Donut Parade reopened on North Hamilton Street nearly one year ago and customers have since flocked to the iconic shop. It is the fourth Spokane business hit by a car in just under one month.
A car crashed into the side of Sweet Frostings Blissful Bakeshop’s downtown Spokane location about a week ago, causing at least $20,000 in damage.
Manager Jessica Winfrey said it would be another six weeks before the building would be fixed with its pastries back on display.

The crash came just days after a car crashed into Prohibition Gastropub on Feb. 20 – just before the start of Inlander Restaurant Week. Prohibition's owner Jill Leonetti said on Facebook that no one was hurt.
About two weeks ago, a stolen truck also crashed into Tacos El Sol in North Spokane on Feb. 10.
