PULLMAN, Wash. — Renowned broadcast journalist Maria Hinojosa will be receiving the Edward R. Murrow Lifetime Achievement Award and giving a keynote address at Washington State University (WSU) this spring.
The ceremony will take place on April 3, 2024, at the 48th Murrow Symposium on the WSU campus. Over the course of 30 years, Hinojosa has reported for various networks, including PBS, CBS, WNBC, CNN and NPR. She also anchored the Emmy Award-winning talk show, "Maria Hinojosa: One-on-One."
According to WSU, Hinojosa made history as a trailblazing Latina journalist and advocate for media diversity. One of her most noteworthy accomplishments includes founding Futuro Media, a journalism nonprofit that explores American diversity.
“Maria Hinojosa’s resolve to tell the stories many journalists have historically overlooked makes her a truly outstanding honoree,” said Bruce Pinkleton, dean of WSU's Edward R. Murrow College of Communication. “She is a skilled journalist who uses her work to contribute to our understanding of a broad group of people, including some of society’s most vulnerable members, whose personal accounts and experiences we would not otherwise know.”
