SPOKANE, Wash. — Spokane and North Idaho will celebrate Veterans Day in several ways.
Here's a list of a few events and ceremonies for people looking to celebrate that will take place on Veterans Day, Monday, Nov. 11.
A list of national restaurant chains that will offer discounts or deals on Veterans Day can be found here. Locally, Wake Up Call will offer one free drink of any size to veterans with a valid military I.D.
Washington State Fallen Heroes Project: Veterans Day Ceremony
- Join the Fallen Heroes Project at the Spokane Arena at 10 a.m. for a ceremony to remember and honor those who served in the military and those who lost their lives during service.
The City of Spokane will honor Veterans Day by offering free street parking on Monday and Riverfront Park will offer free Looff Carousel rides for military members, past and current, and their families.
- Spokane Public Libraries will be closed on Veterans Day.
Spokane Mann-Grandstaff VA Medical Center will partner with Second Harvest to host a mobile market food distribution event.
- From 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the VA Medical Center, veterans and their families can come to the drive-thru mobile market to pick up free food. The event has the capacity to feed up to 250 families. No appointments or documentation is necessary.
- A map of how people should line up for the drive-thru can be found on the VA's Facebook page.
The Inland Northwest YMCA is offering a free 2-week guest pass to military and veteran families from Nov. 3 through Nov. 17.
- When military and veteran families sign up for a monthly YMCA membership, the YMCA will waive join fees and offer a 10% discount on the monthly price. Veterans and their families will be able to enjoy unlimited visits to any of the five Inland Northwest locations.
The Corbin Senior Activity Center will host a Veterans Day Celebration at 12 p.m.
- Veterans can enjoy free admission to this community event that seeks to celebrate and recognize the courage and sacrifices that veterans have made. For other guests, admission is $20, which will include a meal.
VFW 1675 Veterans Day Ceremony in Kellogg, Idaho at 11 a.m.
- A chili feed with hot dogs and hamburgers will take place after a ceremony at the Hill Street and Railroad Avenue Silver Valley Veterans Memorial that will include the annual firing of the Kellogg Howitzer Canon.
Hayden, Idaho Veterans Day Celebration at 11 a.m.
- A celebration at McIntire Family Park in Hayden will include singing, percussion performances and food. The celebration will also honor Robert O. Martin as the 2024 Distinguished Veteran of the Year and guest speaker at the event.
Also on Veterans Day, the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs will livestream the 71st annual National Veterans Day Ceremony at Arlington National Cemetery.
The ceremony will begin at 8 a.m. PST on Monday. The livestream can be found on the Arlington National Cemetery's official website.
