Veterans Day celebrations across the Inland Northwest

The Spokane and Coeur d’Alene region has several different events honoring those who served.

SPOKANE, Wash. — Veteran’s Day is this Saturday and with it comes many different ways to honor and thank those who served in the military.

The Spokane and Coeur d’Alene region has several different events honoring those who served.

On Friday, November 10 the Spokane VA Medical Center will host a drive-thru Veterans Day event. 2nd Harvest Foods of Spokane, along with VA and community partners will share food and items to assist veterans and their families. The drive thru event will run from noon to 2 p.m.

The VFW Post 51 will host a pulled pulled pork sandwich lunch that will be free for all veterans. 

The Washington State Fallen Heroes Project is hosting an event at the Spokane Veterans Memorial Arena to honor all who served. The event begins at 11 a.m. Retired Army Sergeant Pat 'PanHead' Payne, who was awarded both the Bronze Star and a Purple Heart for his service in the Vietnam War, will be speaking as well as Congresswoman Cathy McMorris Rodgers.

Free car washes for veterans | Metro Express Car Wash, 3131 Conference Drive, Coeur d'Alene; 4041 E. Primrose Lane, Post Falls. Metro Car Wash will offer complimentary car washes to veterans all day.

Veterans Recognition Ceremony | 10 a.m., Lakeland High School, 7006 Highway 53, Rathdrum. Free lunch at noon in the commons area. A celebration to meet, honor and thank veterans.

Veterans Day Ceremony | 11 a.m., Veterans Memorial Park, McEuen Park, 504 E. Front Ave., Coeur d'Alene. American Legion Post 14, Coeur d'Alene, will host a ceremony to honor and celebrate veterans. Newby-ginnings of North Idaho founder and Gold Star mom Theresa Hart is the honored guest speaker. Honor Guard presentation, flyover and complimentary coffee and pastries.

City of Hayden Veterans Day and Distinguished Veteran Ceremony | 11 a.m., McIntire Family Park, 8930 N. Government Way. The city of Hayden and its Veterans Commission will hold the 17th annual Veterans Day Ceremony and recognize the 2023 Distinguished Veteran of the Year, Christopher Spatz. Names of those on newly installed pavers in the PFC Robert J. Gordon Memorial Plaza will be announced. Capt. Bill Muck of the U.S. Air Force is the honored guest speaker.

Veterans Day Lunch Event | 10:30 a.m., Post Falls American Legion Post 143, 1138 E. Poleline Ave. Idaho Veterans Chamber of Commerce Meet and Greet until 11 a.m. Presentation at noon. Free lunch. Dr. Neilly Buckalew will discuss a free treatment available with VA benefits to those with headaches and conditions such as post-traumatic stress disorder. Q&A, social time at 1:30 p.m.
