SPOKANE, Wash. — Travelers are coming in and out of the Spokane International Airport.
All afternoon, it's been a nonstop flow, with people traveling across state lines to get to and from the Inland Northwest.
Like many who come to the area for the snow and mountains, the Hammond family from Dallas is no different.
“My son and his girlfriend live in Boise, Idaho," Kim Hammond said. "So we are waiting on them, they are flying up. And then we are all going to Schweitzer, Idaho. just get the kids together, have fun and cook Thanksgiving all day long.”
Airport officials estimate nearly 140,000 seats will be traveling through the Spokane International Airport between now and December 1.
“We came from Buena park, California, and we flew from Long Beach Airport," Tristan Underwood said. "It definitely pays to be a priority member of whatever flight you are on because we got skipped so many times.”
As 2023 was a record-breaking year for travel, airport staff said they expect airport terminals to be extra busy.
Travelers, however, say the Spokane airport has not been too bad.
“We have always had good experiences at Spokane Airport," Chris Harris, a Florida traveler, said. "We have done it a lot."
Peak times leading up to and immediately after Thanksgiving Day are between 4 a.m. and 7 a.m. as well as 11:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m.
Airport staff suggest travelers to give themselves plenty of time so that they can get to where they need to go this holiday season.
