Small fire reignites Tuesday morning at Wolf Lodge Inn Restaurant in Coeur d'Alene

More than 12 hours after firefighters first put out the flames at the Wolf Lodge Inn, a small fire was spotted on the hillside behind the restaurant.

COEUR D'ALENE, Idaho — Firefighters returned to the Wolf Lodge Inn Restaurant in Coeur d'Alene on Tuesday morning after a fire that destroyed the restaurant rekindled.

KREM 2 News first spotted the flames on the hillside behind the restaurant just before 6:00 a.m. on Tuesday. Firefighters arrived on the scene about 10 minutes later.

The small fire on Tuesday comes a day after a large fire destroyed the Wolf Lodge Inn Restaurant on Monday.

On Tuesday fire officials deemed the fire to be accidental.

According to our content partners at the Coeur d'Alene Press, General Manager Nicole Martel said the fire started in an exhaust hood in the kitchen. An assistant restaurant manager reportedly suffered second-degree burns and was hospitalized for his injuries. He has since been released from the hospital.

Fire officials said three firefighters were also treated on the scene for smoke inhalation.

According to fire officials, the fire was called in just after noon on Monday when they received reports of a fire in the chimney and attic. Fire officials used nine tenders to transport water from Lake Coeur d'Alene.

The Wolf Lodge Inn Restaurant was established in 1939 as a convenience store, it turned into a steakhouse in the 1970s.

Fire officials and law enforcement asked people to stay away from the area so crews could respond to the fire.
