Amidst nationwide closures, Spokane and Coeur d’Alene Red Lobster locations remain open for business

The doors of both the location on Division St. in Spokane and Neider Ave. in Coeur d'Alene will remain open despite nearly 100 locations closing nationwide.
The Red Lobster closures come as bankruptcy rumors circled the seafood restaurant chain in recent weeks.

SPOKANE, Wash. — Yes, it is official: dozens of Red Lobsters across the country closed abruptly on Monday.

However, seafood lovers in Spokane and Coeur d’Alene don’t need to worry! The location on Division Street in Spokane and on Neider Avenue in Coeur d’Alene are not closing.

The closest locations to the Inland Northwest that were closed were in Lewiston, Idaho and Silverdale, Wash.

The restaurant chain closed more than 90 locations across 27 states on Monday. Workers at the closed locations took to social media to say they received no notice ahead of time.

The closures come as bankruptcy rumors circled the seafood restaurant chain in recent weeks. Red Lobster has been searching for a buyer to avoid filing for Chapter 11, multiple media outlets reported last month.

The Orlando-based chain, known for its endless shrimp deals, has reportedly been eyeing bankruptcy filing to restructure its debt and downsize from its 650 US locations, CNN reports.

Last year, Red Lobster significantly expanded its iconic all-you-can-eat shrimp deal. But customer demand overwhelmed what the chain could afford, which also reportedly contributed to the millions in losses.

The Associated Press contributed to this report.
