Harsh winter temperatures freeze Cherry Hill Orchard's crop, causing complete 2024 closure

The orchard said although December was mild with unusually warm temperatures, the temperature drop to -15 in January with chilling winds froze their flower buds.

MEAD, Wash — Cherry Hill Orchard and Market announced this week they will be unable to open for business this season. In a Facebook post, the business said their crop of cherries, apricots and peaches “completely froze out.”

They said although December was mild with unusually warm temperatures, the temperature drop to -15 degrees in January along with chilling winds froze their flower buds.

Cherry Hill says they hope to open as normal in 2025.
