SPOKANE, Wash. — A local fashion designer is hitting the runway in New York Fashion Week with pieces from her Fall 2020 line.
Sofia Mantoni is the owner and creative mind behind Lo Boutique in North Spokane. After entering a contest to travel to New York Fashion Week, she got the call that would change her life.
“I became speechless and my husband was like, ‘Say something,’” Mantoni said.
Mantoni sent in eight original designs in order to be featured at New York Fashion Week.
“I think fabrics speak a lot. They’re like this canvas for me,” she added.
Everything in the store is designed by Mantoni, with each piece starting from a sketch. In true boutique fashion, she only makes two pieces in each size.
Mantoni said her goal is to empower women of today and tomorrow through confidence and style.
“I am an architect and a design freak, I design everything I see,” Mantoni said.
Mantoni’s eye for fashion started as a young girl growing up in Argentina.
“I just pictured clothes that I wanted in my mind and told my mom let’s go find it. If we ouldn't find it, I made it,” she said.
Lo Boutique’s motto is “Because You Deserve It” and Mantoni hopes women feel their best when wearing her clothes.
She said she feels honored to take pieces from her clothing line and show them off to the world on one of the most prestigious runways in fashion.
