SPOKANE, Wash. — A 4-year-old Spokane boy got the transportation he needed Thursday to get to Boston for a life-saving surgery thanks to an RV rental company.
Noah Alderson was born with half a heart, which is a congenital birth defect.
According to his family, the surgery he needs is not offered in Spokane and they have a surgery scheduled at Boston Children’s Hospital on August 20.
Since Noah relies on machines and tubes to keep him alive, a normal vehicle was not an option for his family to get to Boston. A commercial flight was also out of the question due to his oxygen levels and the exposure to germs before surgery.
"We're a family of six, it's already hard to keep your kids contained for that long of a trip. Noah has some extra needs and a lot of extra stuff that he comes with. So that presented us with a problem of how to get him there," said Noah’s mom, Tanasha.
The family said an RV was their only hope to make the nearly 3,000-mile journey.
RV rental company, Outdoorsy, promised the Alderson family a brand-new RV for them to make the cross-country trek.
The family got the RV Thursday morning and are headed off on their journey.
