SPOKANE, Wash. — You may remember Tim Lorentz. We introduced you to him in May as the owner of Spokane’s famed boat car.
Lorentz has been driving the unique ride around Spokane city roads and Interstate 90 for more than 10 years.
With $700 in his pocket, Lorentz originally bought a 1993 Chrysler LeBaron convertible. Then, he bought a boat and took both vehicles to Newtech Skills Center, where he teaches special education.
The entire conversion process took three days, with two of those days reserved for cutting off the bottom of the boat. Thus, LaBoata was born.
About five years ago, Lorentz revamped the boat after purchasing a 1992 Chrysler LeBaron convertible. The changes included blue interior and a blue stripe on the side.
Lorentz reached out to KREM on Tuesday with some exciting news: he and LaBoata are appearing on TV!
The dynamic duo will appear on an episode of “Ultimate Rides,” which airs on FYI Network. The channel is owned by A&E Networks.
Lorentz said the episode airs on Dec. 26 at 7 p.m. He and LaBoata worked with a film crew for the episode in May 2019.

The show is described as one that brings people the “most absurd, over-the-top, sought after and powerful rides imaginable.” Each episode features five incredible vehicles linked by theme – in Lorentz’s case, that’s boats.
“Ultimate Rides” is narrated by reality television star Danny “The Count” Koker.
Lorentz’s love of boats and cars has also extended to other areas of his life.
About four years ago, he mounted a speed boat in his backyard pool. He has also converted his desk at work into a replica that resembles the boat car.
