SPOKANE, Wash. — Spokane’s Looff Carrousel is celebrating its 110th birthday with rides for only a buck on Thursday.
The birthday celebration coincides with National Carousel Day.
Those who attend can enjoy carousel rides and popcorn for $1 each and free face painting until 3 p.m. on Thursday. The first 110 riders will also receive a cupcake.
Carousel rides are normally $2.50 and $5.50 for an unlimited day pass.
The historic Looff Carrousel located in Riverfront Park reopened to the public last May. Its rebirth came after a year of construction on a new building to house the attraction.
The carousel, which is on the National Register of Historic Places, features 54 carved horses, one giraffe, one tiger and 2 Chinese dragon chairs.
Coeur d’Alene is also offering free carrousel rides at 439 Fort Grounds Drive until 5 p.m. on Thursday. The Humane Society will have adoptable pets at the event.
