SPOKANE, Wash. — The nation's most dramatic show returned for its 28th season Monday night. "The Bachelor," which first aired in March of 2002, has gained a larger-than-life fan base over the two decades of air time.

"Bachelor Nation" is now hitting a little closer to home. One contestant, Lea Cayanan, has local ties to Spokane, being a recent graduate from Gonzaga University.

According to "The Bachelor's" website, Lea is originally from Waipahu, Hawaii. Her biography shared, "The Hawaii native is proud of her roots, confident, and lights up every room."

Her home roots give her a better connection to the 28th bachelor, Joey Graziadei. Graziadei moved to Hawaii after graduating from West Chester University to pursue tennis.

During the first episode, Lea, stole the show. No, literally.

Before the season premiere, while at the finale of the "Bachelorette," she received an envelope at "After the Final Rose" before beginning her real journey with Joey at the mansion and beyond.

The card allowed Lea to steal a one-on-one date from another contestant for herself at any point in the season. However, Lea, showed her character by tossing out the dramatic bid which resulted in her receiving the "first impression rose."

The premiere began with 32 contestants and Lea received a rose to make it to the next round of contestants fighting for a chance at love.

You can tune into "The Bachelor" every Monday at 8 p.m. or stream the next day on Hulu.
