SPOKANE, Wash. — The Garland Theater officially reopens tonight!
The building looks much different after several improvements were made by new ownership and management.
Chris Bovey and Tyler Arnold have put blood sweat and tears into preserving what the Garland means to not only the Spokane community but the entire Inland Northwest.
"We want people to come back in and immediately tell where they contributions they made went and they're going to see it, I promise that," Bovey said. "They will come in here and be like 'that was not there before, that was not there before,' and it's going to be a whole experience, not just come here to see a movie. They're going to come here to see a movie museum in a vintage theater."
While they preserved much of the old building, they also made improvements to keep it thriving into the future.
The theater has a sold out showing of the Spokane classic Benny and Joon for their first night back. They will also hold a ribbon cutting with Mayor Lisa Brown.
The theater will be open Friday through Sunday as they return, there is also potential to expand those hours going forward.
Although Friday night’s showing is sold out, there are still tickets available for the rest of the weekend. If you are interested in tickets, click here to buy them for $5.
