Tacos y Tequila returning for fourth year in downtown Spokane

The 4th annual festival hosted by Nuestras Raices Centro Comunitario takes place this weekend.

SPOKANE, Wash. — The fourth annual Tacos y Tequila Festival hosted by Nuestras Raices Centro Comunitario (NRCC) takes place on Saturday, August 24 and Sunday, August 25. 

The festival, called the Official Hispanic-Latino Festival of Spokane, aims to celebrate Hispanic and Latino culture through food, music, dance and community. 

Tequila and mezcal classes will be part of the event and beer gardens will feature drinks from No-Li, Estrella beer, La Gritona Tequila and Alipus Mezcal. 

The main entertainment for the festival this year is a tribute to Selena by 512 Selena Experience, Norteño band Los Faraones del Norte, a salsa performance by Milonga, a Ballet Folklorico performance, a live Mariachi band, a Latine drag show and many other performances. 

The event provides a platform for Hispanic and Latino community members to share culture, traditions, history and encourage everyone to support local businesses. 

“Tacos y Tequila Festival allows us to showcase our history and increase public awareness and pride in the depth and diversity of Hispanic Latino culture in the Inland Northwest," said NRCC Executive Director Fernanda Mazcot.

The festival’s proceeds will support NRCC, which is a community center serving the Hispanic-Latino community through cultural celebration, education, economic development and health and human services.

New this year, the funds raised through the festivals 2 beer gardens and community donations will help launch the centers capital campaign to acquire a new building which will include a new cultural and behavioral health center in Spokane. Last year, Nuestra Raices raised close to $65,000 to help support the different services they provide for the community. 

When the festival first started back in 2021, they had 7 vendors and now the festival will have 34 different vendors that have anything from community services to food. 

The festival takes place on Saturday and Sunday from 1 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Spokane Falls Boulevard between Lincoln Street and Monroe Street. 

The festival is free to attend and food and drink purchases will support local Hispanic and Latino businesses.
